Find a process

Posted: November 4, 2008 in Uncategorized

WordPress has a feature that lets me see my blog stats, it shows me stuff like where people are linking to my website, what google searches they searched to get here-to name a few, and I’ve been seeing that people are trying to find process names, now I don’t know every process and what program it runs, but This website seems to, so just find a process name in Windows Task Manager or Process Explorer (which I will go over later) and then hit Ctrl-F (Firefox users) and type in the process name. Now this is one way you can find out what a certain process does, and another way would be to just Google the process. Now if you want to find a specific programs process I don’t know how to do that, unless you have Process Explorer from SysInternals. SysInternals is what Windows Task Manager should have been, packed with a whole lot of really cool features, but the one you are going to want to pay attention to is the target button in the top bar, click and hold that button and then drag it over the window or program you want to know the process of, and the let go of your mouse, then Process Explorer will highlight the process belonging to that program.
